This project will aim to address some of the effects and challenges that limited awareness and understanding of heart health and mental health can have on the overall health and wellbeing of young adults. Our plan is to create a video animation that will include what effects heart health has on mental health, and vice versa, in young adults. The health messaging in the video will aim to show the effects that poor heart health can have on young adults’ mental health in the short term and what some of the effects may be in the longer-term on their brain health. Young adults will advise on all aspects of the video animation production including the storyline, moving graphics and overall, effective, and important health messaging that is to be conveyed. The purpose of this project will be to gather information on heart health and mental health messaging and awareness in young adults and provide a useful educational resource.
The overall aim of TATCOs are to preserve older adults’ wisdom or also known as crystalised intelligence, in a core field of expertise or discipline. This project is focusing exclusively on developing a TATCO on One Health (TATCO-OH) given the most recent global COVID epidemiological crisis and pandemic. Other fields and disciplines of interest for environmental and societal planning in the future will include developing TATCOs on design, buildings, and environment interface (TATCO-DBE) and retired health professionals’ perspectives on management and leadership of health systems and health care (TATCO-HSC).
We are developing a health intervention that will assist older adults aged 60 years and older with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high blood sugars or obesity in making healthier choices when planning and carrying out their everyday activities. Older adults will develop the health intervention that involves a training program to improve decisions and optimise cognitive and physical function, together with researchers, healthcare professionals and students.
